Common A/C Problems We See

AC blowing warm air A tripped breaker, a failed capacitor or contactor, a frozen coil, or a refrigerant leak can each cause it. We take readings before we take parts off.
AC running but not cooling the house Airflow restriction, a low charge or a failing compressor can leave the system running all day. We check airflow, controls and electrical operation, then take the temperature and refrigerant readings the manufacturer calls for when conditions allow, and explain the findings and any further testing needed.
Ice on the AC line or coil Turn cooling off so the coil can thaw. Restricted airflow and low refrigerant are the usual causes, and running it iced up can damage the compressor.
Outdoor unit humming but the fan does not spin Often a capacitor or fan motor. Turn the system off and do not try to start the fan by hand. We test the part before replacing it.
Water around the indoor unit Possible causes include a blocked drain, a damaged pan, a pump fault or a thawing coil. Stop cooling and arrange service. We check the source of the water, the drainage and any installed overflow protection before recommending a repair.
Breaker trips when the AC starts A hard-starting compressor, a shorted motor or a wiring fault. Leave it off and book a diagnostic visit rather than resetting it repeatedly.
